This is the new Super popular class for beginners and advance racers alike. This is a “Box stock” class. Because these cars run so well from the package and because their simiplicity makes the usual adjustments and maintenance largely irrelevant, this is the perfect starter car. Choose from a wide selection of interchangeable bodies. Any body that fits is legal except high downforce bodies. All other components must be as delivered. We will allow heat sinks to extend motor life.

Stock Whomp rules:

Races will be run at 13.8 Volts.

No weight may be added nor may chassis be lightened.

Braid height may be adjusted with shims for proper height. Strongly recommended when running on recessed braid tracks.

Any of the Parma, Champion or Riggen Womp type chassis are OK as long as the chassis is not modified. Chassis may not be bent to lower it. Stock chassis are flat except the step for the guide. No chassis braces. Box Stock Thumper CH102C Is legal; for this class.

Legends wide fronts or Parma O-Ring front wheels & tires are required.

Motors:

Deathstar 16D

Earlier sealed Parma 16D motors.

SpeedFX 16D Sealed PS(KE)-2002, or Kelly balanced sealed 16D .

Gears:

Only STOCK 48P Parma press on 9t pinion, and any Unmodified 48p Parma pink Crown gears. Gear ratio is driver’s choice.

Tires:

Parma 696-B or Champion SBR Womp type rear tires ONLY. Tires may be treated, trued narrowed and rounded.

Bushings:

NO BB. Stock rear bushings installed in the stock location, may be soldered or glued in.

Body:

No Wedge, LMP, formula, or dirt modified bodies. Ledal bodies are sedan pickup an legends styles mounted at stock height. No slammed, cut down bodies please. The body must be painted with clear windows. No interior is required, but Concours points may be awarded for nice paint or prep. The body may be re-enforced with tape, plastic, body stars or washers and/or goop.

Motor screws must be installed in the motor. May not be soldered or glued.

Stock sized guide (no cut downs) Added or removed guide spacers are permited.

Stock body clips or fixed pin tubes allowed for body mounting. No floating mounts.

1/16" (.062) min clearance on chassis, .047 on the gear.

3 1/4" max width. Front axle may have play but may not exceed rear width at full travel.

Pro and A rated NOMAD drivers must comply with these stock Womp rules, however, to encourage new and returning "Wompers", we allow new racers or returning racers with older or out-of-compliance Womp/Thumper cars to race them in the stock class under the following rule:

The Grandfather clause:

The grandfathered cars are allowed to race UNTIL the driver gets two podium finishes. After two podium finishes his cars must be brought into full compliance with the stock Whomp rules, or moved to the modified class.

Any FK style motor is permitted.

Any commercially available 1/32 scale Whomp type body.

The body must be painted.

Driver/interiors are required.

The body may be reinforced with tape, body armor, Shoe Goo or similar.

Body may be slammed and trimmed for tire and guide clearance but not in the top of the body.

May solder or glue in bushings and motor to the chassis.

Any guide, motor wires and guide clips are allowed and any guide hardware is OK.

Any of the Parma, Champion or Riggen Womp type chassis are OK as long as the chassis is not modified except as noted: Chassis may be bent to lower it, or align to gear, braces are OK.

Any weight is allowed on top or chassis and may be floppy mounted.

Legends wide fronts or Parma O-Ring front wheels & tires are required.

Chassis may be bent to lower it. Reinforcements and braces are OK. Piano wire or brass bumpers are permitted at front or rear and nerf bars are permitted but may not exceed 3 ¼ max width. Chassis may not be hinged nor cut to allow flex.

1/16" (.062) min clearance on chassis, .047 on the gear.

3 1/4" max width. Front axle may have 3/16” side play but may not exceed rear width at full travel.

High Downforce Steelies

Fast and furious, these are the big 1/24 cars with no magnets and aero bodies.  They use standard seale motors and inexpensive stamped steel chassis.  This gives great speed ans handlingn at low cost.  Equally at home on bi wood trak or our medium sized tracks these are versitile.  If you've been racing on commercial tracks you probably own one already.  Any stamped steel chassis is legal, although most prefer the  JK Cheetah 7, 11 or 21. Pin tubes are allowed. May add weight.

Cheetha 11 or 21 with Falcon Motor.    

Motor – ANY FK type motor. JK Retro and Trinity Demon motors are hot. 

Front wheels  – 5/8” front wheels required.

Rear tires  Minimum Diameter: .070

Gears - Any, most use 64 pitch.

Width  - 3.25” Max 

Clearance - chassis must clear the test block by .055 minimum at start of the race.

Rear axle – 3/32” drill blank axle or hollow.  Oilite bushings or ball bearings may be soldered or glued into the chassis.

Lead wire/guide flag/guide clips – Wire may be changed or added. Any guide. Guide washers and nuts are racers choice.

Bodies  – Any body, High downforce recommended. Front diaplane (splitter) and rear spoiler up to 1/2" may be added.  No side dams or wings.  Body must cover chassis.  Driver figure is required.

Chassis

– Must use JK Cheetah 7, 11 or 21 chassis. Must be .030” center section and pans. No modifications allowed to chassis except a soldered on, one piece motor/rear upright brace made from brass or wire. Pin tubes are allowed. May add weight. Chassis may not be cut or drilled. T-flex and older chassis type permitted under “grandfather clause”.

Cheetha 11 or 21 with Falcon Motor.  Cheetah 7 Chassis

Motor

– Must use JK Falcon 7 part number JK 30307 only. No modifications to motors allowed.

Front wheels

– 5/8” front wheels required.

– Must use JK plastic small hub tires only.

H & R Hardbody Rules

HRCH02Hard Body Race

Chassis:

HRCH02 as shown above. Chassis adjustment allows fitting to most bodies. Modification to front axle mount or to chassis adjust wheelbase is permitted. Guide tongue may be flattened to adjust guide height. Rear axle position may not be modified.

Body:

Any Injection molded body. . Painted and detailed body appearance is encouraged. Concours points will be awarded. 3 lap penalty for no interior, 5 lap bonus for full hard plastic interior. Any body mount type

Ball bearings

are OK. (Come stock in RTR Chassis).

Tires

may not protrude past body when viewed from the top by more than 1/8”, unless they did so on real car. Trimming of wheel wells for tire clearance is discouraged.

Wheels:

Scale sized wheels appropriate to body are required, but may be any width. Rubber, foam or silicone coated foam. (Fish Foam is generally best on our tracks. Minimum Front diameter is .90” Minimum rear diameter is 1”

Motor:

H&R Lightning II blue motor. Older Falcon motors permitted under Grandfather clause.

Maximum width is 3.25”

Vintage Race Rules

Races for all types of older slot carsVintage Chassis

Races for all types of older slot cars, handicapped to allow for a wide variety of cars regardless of lap times.

To enter, cars must have significant pre 1980 content. Newer tires, motors and bodies are permitted, but no stamped steel Flexi or similar chassis allowed. Hand made chassis, model kit bodies or other hand crafted components are permitted in the spirit of vintage style handcrafted cars.

Qualifying time, or best lap of the race, will be used to award handicap laps the slowest cars. Round robin format with three minute heats. Deslotted cars will be picked up and only resloted at each minute mark. This protects the cars and puts a premium of driving consistently while allowing a wide variety of car to participate.

 

Concours Points

In recognition of the fine work club members are now doing in painting and preparing their cars and even in acquiring and running vintage cars, we will now include "Concours" points, for any race in which vintage or custom made cars are entered. We will line up the cars prior to the race, photo them, then each car owner gets up to one minute tell us why his car deserves points. "I hand painted this, I detailed that, it's very rare... whatever" This way those who are more skilled or expert can educate those less so, and really cool stuff is not overlooked unless the owner does not care to make such a statement. We take a hands up vote, but you may not vote for your car. Points are 5,3,1. In case of a tie, we give duplicate points. Easy!

Plastic car definitions::

Stock:

A "RTR" ready to run car in "as purchased" condition except as follows: a. Tires and wheels may be trued, not be reduced more than .1 inch in diameter as supplied by manufacturer. Only OEM tires permitted.

For 1G cars, plastic may be removed under motor to permit traction magnets to be affixed to motor can, to allow easy fitting of traction magnets.

No other changes are allowed, except as approved in advance of pre-race tech with race director. Because we have seen considerable variation in performance in "box stock” cars exceptions will be made to bring non- competitive cars up to competitive qualification times. Cars not otherwise capable of running within .2 seconds of current TQ times for the class may request or report mods to race director who will test drive the cars. If modifications result in a car that the race director can drive faster than currently listed qualifying time for the class, the modification will be disallowed for the car and the modification must be reversed. In no case shall a car be allowed to run in excess of 1G magnet, even if "box stock" unless running in an unlimited magnet race, or by agreement of all other racers.

Modified:

a. Must retain hard shell body with scale appearance and driver figure:

b. Tires and wheels may be replaced but must retain scale appearance. Wheels and tires must be at least 80% or scale diameter and shall not protrude beyond the cars bodywork by more than 1/16" when viewed from above. any tire compound is permitted.

c. Guide shoe may utilize a metal (or plastic) bushing to reduce play, or may be replaced by a deep (wood-track) guide shoe.

d. Replacement contact brushes are allowed.

e. Front axles and bushings may be changed.

f. Weight may be added.

g. Car may be lightened, but all exterior detail must be retained. Driver figure and some interior detail must also be present.

h. Replacement motors are allowed,

i. Aftermarket gears are allowed. Ratios are free.

Vintage:

A bracket racing class for old cars. Principally 1960’s 1/24 scale cars, but newer cars, especially hand built cars are also welcome.

a. Wheels and tires are free, but one paint will be deducted for use of contemporary foam or sili/foam rears.

b. 3.25” width.

c. Motors, gears, and axles are free, including the number of each.

Weight may (must) be added.

MAXIMUM LEGAL WIDTH on 1/24 scale - 3.25" 1/32 Scale 2.5” unless otherwise specified.

Traction magnet rules:

a. "1G" requires that the car NOT adhere to an inverted section of standard Carerra track. !G as in one gravity or magnet down force equal to car weight. This allows heavy and light cars to run together fairly.

b. "1G FORWARD" same rule as above with the added restriction that NO magnet may be placed further that 1.5" from the front of the guide blade.

c. "Unlimited magnet" is any amount of magnet that exceeds the 1G rule. Some stock cars, especially Scalextric will fall in to this group, but generally adding lead to bring the car weight up will get the car to "1G" specification. Since excessive magnet can lead to very hard crashes and motor overheating, we rarely run under this rule, except for special enduro races and record attempts.

d. "No Traction Magnet" may use no magnetic downforce. A few motors exert magnetic downforce. Using the shop Magnetic scale, cars with more than 25G of downforce are illegal. Usually increasing tire size to bring the motor away from the track is the best way to compensate for this.

e. "stock magnet" just what the car come with. For cars with adjustable magnets, a configuration may be specified.

f. Any car which causes sparking against the track rails will be black flagged. Tape may be used AS a temporary fix.

Race Formats:

a. Racers are encouraged to set up Pink Slip Challenge Races between themselves. Any cars that racers agree to race may be used. Racers prepared to run a pink slip racers have priority over drivers practicing, but may not interrupt a scheduled Featured Race. Computer is set for 10 lap race with a Formula One power-on type start. 10 laps of practice are given then the race is run. 10 laps, "crash and burn". Any deslot where the car does not re-slot in it's own lane without assistance ends that drivers race. Cars deslotted by other cars or by running into crashed cars are also eliminated. Laps remaining after race is decided, if any, may be used for practice. Racers are encouraged to swap lanes and race many times as they care to, usually "Best of three", "best of five" or "as many as is still fun".

b. "Bracket" racing allows use of a mixed field of cars. We start with a one minute qualifying session format will used. Slower cars will be given additional laps at the start. The number of laps assigned will be based on qualifying or practice lap time and checked against actual best race time. The challenge is bracket racing is to drive consistently near, but not faster than your best qualifying time. Race finishes are usually very close. Technical inspection and careful group selection of cars is not needed, so this is a good format when we do not have a group of matched cars to race.

c. Rotation Race: Drivers are called to the track in random order and will drive a heat on each lane, (not always consecutively). Race is scored on overall laps.

d. Round Robin Race: Same as Rotation Race, when there are more entries than lanes. Drivers will "sit out" some heats. Race is scored on overall laps.

e. "Elimination": Each driver is given one minute to set their best single lap time. Qualifying times are used to set up the elimination tree. After qualifying the slowest two racers race each other for a specified time in each lane. (a heat) the winner is the driver with the highest total laps. The winning driver faces the next fastest qualifier. Races continue until we have come to a winner. Fastest qualifier also wins points and TQ award.

f. Featured Races are scheduled in advance. Races are two or three minutes heats (time permitting). Deslotted cars are marshaled. Featured races may be run as Rotation, Round Robin and/or Bracket. Featured races are scored for race series championship.

Conduct of events:

a. Racers need to sign up and place their intended cars and pink slips on the sign up table 30 minutes prior to Featured Races. Cars will be inspected and perhaps driven by race director prior to race start to determine if they meet the rules for the published class. Cars that need to be changed must be resubmitted before race time. At race start time drivers will be called to qualify or given lane assignments.

b. When a sufficient field of cars is present, races will be according to Class and Group. Races among cars in the same class and group are called "Heads-up" races. When there are not enough in one Class and Category, for a "Heads-up" race a "Mixed" format will used.

c. Blank "Pinks" are used for race entry and stamped "Pinks" may be used for any purchase from Nomad Slot Racing except track time or race entry. Other prizes may be awarded in various races and series.

d. Tire cleaning is recommended before qualifying. Drivers may clean tires anytime. No substance may be applied directly to the track surface, any visible transfer from tires to track must be wiped up with a microfiber cloth.

e. Race director may ask to drive any car to confirm that the car is not excessively fast for it's class. If race director can drive any car faster than TQ, it may be disassembled for legality inspection or the car type may be segregated to another class.

g. Prior to start, all cars will be placed in the "tech area" and cars will be checked following tech cars may not be serviced or modified.

h. Prior to races all entered cars will be photographed on the start line, after race drivers will be photographed. Photos may be used on our website. We're getting some beautiful fields of cars and drivers!

Track calls:

In the event of a problem with his equipment, a driver may call, "mechanical". The race director will attempt to pause the computer immediately and the race will be paused. The driver then has one minute to adjust his car before the race is resumed. If the other driver/s suggest it the race may be restarted. Only the actual word "mechanical" is recognized.

If a deslotted car is on the main straight, or out of sight under a bridge, or off the table her safety or fairness issue arises such as foreign object on track, or deslotted car out of reach, race director or any Marshall, but NOT drivers may call "track". Race director will attempt to pause the computer as soon as the call is made, and other racers should stop when the call is made so a fair restart can occur. If deemed necessary by the race director cars that failed to stop promptly may be set back to the approximate position when the call was made. Any driver making an unwarranted "track" may be penalized one lap.

If a car re-slots into an incorrect lane, it is prone to crashing badly and causing incorrect lap counts. When a car re-slot incorrectly, anyone may make a "rider" call. All drivers must stop immediately and the race direct will attempt to stop the computer. The mis-slotted car will be correctlyreslotted or removed depending on race type. Miscounted laps will be adjusted. Drivers failing to stop for a rider call may be penalized a lap.

Driving Etiquette:

It is expected that Nomad racers will treat each other as "Fast Friends" that is; honestly, respectfully and supportively toward the mutual goal of enjoying this fine hobby.

a. A racer may announce "concede" and withdraw from the any race. There is no obligation to complete a race.

b. a black flag may be called by the race director and penalties ranging from removal form the race, disqualification from the day's remaining races and removal of any points scored that day or even that year may imposed:

 

Black flag infractions include:

1. Intentional or excessively frequent crashing that interferes with others racing.

2. Racing with a controller or car set up so that car can circulate the entire track without trigger motion.

3. Offensive, abusive language or taunting.

4. Failure to Marshall when not on-track during an event in which you are entered.

5. Cheating or unwarranted accusation of cheating.

6. Deliberately defacing or damaging the facility.

7. Theft of private or facility property.
